The Trooper is a four-lane rhythm game with a visible official YouTube player. Pick The Trooper, Run to the Hills or Wasted Years and play a fan-made beat chart for the full video. A separate short synth practice mode is available when you want to learn the controls without a video.

Hit each lane as the center of a note reaches the red target line. Accurate hits build a combo multiplier. The charts are approximate fan-made interpretations, not official musical transcriptions. Use the timing offset before starting if your display or audio setup needs calibration. Buffering freezes the official-mode chart until playback can continue.
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| A / S / D / F | Hit lanes one through four. |
| ← / ↓ / ↑ / → | Alternative keys for the same four lanes. |
| Touch lane buttons | Tap the four labeled lanes. |
In arcade games, use P to pause, H for the control guide, R to restart and Esc to return to the arcade. The bracket keys switch games. These shortcuts are disabled while you are typing in a form.
Every game offers Easy, Normal, Hard and Nightmare. A run keeps the difficulty chosen at the start, and personal bests are stored separately for each tier in your browser. To change an active run’s difficulty, return to setup and begin again.
| Difficulty | What changes |
|---|---|
| Easy | Fewer notes and the most forgiving hit windows. |
| Normal | A balanced note density and timing window. |
| Hard | More notes, including subdivisions, with stricter timing. |
| Nightmare | The densest chart and the tightest timing windows. |
Start with synth practice to learn the lane order. In official video mode, missing notes breaks your combo but does not end the song early.
You can play this arcade game as a guest. A Maiden Arcade account unlocks daily rewards and the daily trivia challenge, badges, My Maiden collections and forum posting. Device-local arcade bests remain separate from account fan points.
