How to play Somewhere in Time

Identify the earliest and latest albums first. Those anchors make it easier to position the middle releases without rearranging the whole list repeatedly. Every submitted sequence is checked as a complete order. Feedback reveals the chronology with release years and links to the official studio-album discography, so you can check precisely where an album belonged.

Choose your difficulty before starting

Every game offers Easy, Normal, Hard and Nightmare. A run keeps the difficulty chosen at the start, and personal bests are stored separately for each tier in your browser. To change an active run’s difficulty, return to setup and begin again.

DifficultyWhat changes
EasyThree albums per puzzle, 25 seconds per round and five lives.
NormalFour albums, 18 seconds and three lives.
HardFive albums, 12 seconds and two lives.
NightmareSix albums, eight seconds and a single life.

A useful starting strategy

Group releases into broad eras before learning the exact years. The neighboring albums within an era are what make the harder puzzles challenging.
